Diversity Bean Tins - Unconscious Bias Exercise
For customizations and bulk discounts: order here
Created to spark discussions about diversity, equity and inclusion, Diversity Beans is the perfect teaching tool to illustrate stereotyping and unconscious bias. Since jelly beans are a popular candy that holds strong associations (black jelly bean = licorice), imagine the surprise when your first black jelly bean tastes like cherry and your next one tastes like peppermint, and still another tastes like licorice! It's REALLY true...you can't judge a bean by its color!
Diversity Beans serve as a reminder to not judge others based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or any other 'other' that someone might find different from themselves. We've heard it's a reoccurring lesson once experiencing Diversity Beans! Pretty cool, huh?
Each package contains the following quote, "This candy is just like people--you can't determine what is on the inside by simply looking at the outside. Diversity Beans remind us to experience people one at a time and enjoy their unique qualities. Diversity is Strength and includes you."
Our candy comes in a mixture of colors: red, orange, yellow, green, black and white, and a mixture of flavors: cinnamon, grape, licorice, root beer, tangerine, peppermint, pineapple, wintergreen, apple, lemon, and black cherry.
Use with our free lesson plans, in your diversity training, as icebreakers, for team building or diversity activities, conference giveaways, diversity awards, diversity promotions, job fair takeaways, diversity promos, or simply as a reminder in the office--show your commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Packaging: 2 oz seamless round metal screw-top tin (2 7/16" wide x 3/4" tall) containing approximately @ 1 oz of Diversity Beans sealed in tamperproof bag.

Employees love the concept of "You can't judge a bean by its color"! They love to bite into a jelly bean and try to determine what flavor they are. It leaves a good taste in their mouth (literally) about the topic of diversity!

A few months ago I "discovered" your Diversity Jelly Beans while browsing the web. I ordered some to use in our teachers' training in August. They were a hit! Since then we have used them with parents, students, and teachers. What a wonderful tool they are! I always cite the source and encourage others to use them!
